'i always had a desire to play music,
ever since i was really young. i've been playing
the guitar for about 3 years, and i'm self taught.
however, it was not until 2007 that i started taking
music more seriously. i had just recently purchased
a keyboard and started teaching myself to play.
i have always been struck by the emotional power
of the sound of the piano. so it seemed fitting to learn
to play. i think one of the biggest influences in taking
music more seriously was hearing the debut album
'sea' by last days. i realized then that music does not
have to be complex or difficult to play to be deep
and beautiful. other influences include: hood, secede,
helios, sigur ros and library tapes,
amongst countless others. right now with my music
i'm basically trying to re-capture old memories
that still haunt me... key moments in my life that have
stayed in my head since they occured.
then i try to re-create those feelings in a song
to basically make sense of it all. i use a very simple
setup and i think that's a good thing. i don't want my
music to ever become too complicated.
i think there's beauty in the simplicity
of the emotional power of music.'
